Franken Finger - the full story
Hey everyone!
As most of you probably know by now, I sliced my finger a little over a week ago. What some may not know is what fully happened - as many people assume it's food related ...
I was heading to my parents place to drop off curtains and pick up my cheque and I was trying to puncture a hole in the strap of my wedge sandal. I guess the knife slipped, sliced my finger. I'm pretty sure my neighbours think someone died because I screamed bloody murder. I was literally hysterical.
Called my dad, he said to wrap it [I grabbed the nearest face cloth ..] and head to the hospital, especially since I wasn't sure how deep it was.
I called Matt at work saying I was heading to our local hospital [literally a 10min bus ride] and since I had just missed a bus, he told me to go back and rinse it again then wrap it in gauze. Luckily he had bought a first aid kit last weekend. It was a poor job of wrapping but that didn't matter since I knew they were going to unwrap and re-wrap it at the hospital.
The next 4 hours were awful mostly
- Matt showed up [oh thank gawd ...]
- 3 hours in waiting room
- Had to get Matt to undo my shorts so I could go pee [awkward ...]
Within one hour I got my tetanus shot, had panic attacks because the freezing needle hurts so bad, didn't feel the stitches and doctor is pretty sure there's nerve damage.
Needless to say, my finger is now called "Franken finger" because of my lovely stitches.
Since I can't get it wet I had to put a ziploc bag on my hand to shower and people give me weird looks when I try to wash my hands.
It's been 10 days since it happened and I'm pretty sure I've lost most feeling on my finger tip. It still doesn't straighten out but Matt swears it'll come back.
I can get stitches out soon and I'm super excited. It's hard to wash it though, because it's still sensitive. I am trying - even if it is dripping water on it lol! At least there's polysporin!
See? Not as gross anymore.
Anyways to that's the full story and I just want to say thanks to those who have been sending kind words to me when it happened!!!
I promise to have a video and/or blog up ASAP!!

Life Overhaul?
Hey everyone!
I know I haven't posted in awhile and I'm really sorry!
Mostly I haven't been posting because I haven't got a lot to say, but I've got a few things coming up that should really kick-start my blog!
I've got some reviews coming up. Klout - I believe I mentioned this site before - has sent me a few perks, and they said that I don't HAVE to post anything about the products but I feel like I owe it to Klout, my followers and anyone who's really looking for info about these products.
I also have an Easter tutorial coming soon. Well it'll be more spring because I'm testing it on Easter, but it'll get recorded afterwards.
What else, what else ....
There's a few things that I'm hoping to happen soon but I don't want to jinx that.
This summer is going to be busy. Awhile ago, a friend of mine was invited to a wedding and since her boyfriend is out of town I opted myself for her date. We've been each other's date to many different things - 2 weddings, prom, dances, movies - so it's only natural. Well the other day she messaged me and said that her friend [the bride] was hoping to have my makeup skills for herself.
Started talking to the bride and she wants me to do her plus the bridesmaids!
I spoke with her about a few things - what she wanted, a few suggestions, somethings that she may need - so I'm hoping for a Sephora trip soon!
My healthy weight loss has actually been great. I've dropped a few pounds and inches - purely by eating. My next step is to start toning. Which means I have to start working out. I stopped for awhile out of sheer laziness. I will get back on the workout train, and life will be good. I ahead of schedule already since my goal was summer and it's just early April!
So that's about all for me for now!!!

Catty Females Rant
Hey everyone!
After these past few days, I can't help but look at Matt and think about how thankful I am for him. A few friends are having issues with their significant other. Granted, they've been together longer than Matt and I have but still.
Yes, Matt and I have our arguments - what couple doesn't? - but it's never been so bad that we almost breakup, etc. Maybe it's because we have only been together just under a year [March 20th] but still, I never want to go through what my friends have been through.
I really admire how much some of my friends have dealt with and still seem to stay strong. I'd probably lose it.
Another thing I've noticed lately is how catty some females are.
WHAT THE HELL!?!?
I told a friend of mine that she needs to move away because of all that stuff. I hate how I'm not able to be around a few of my friends when they're having issues. Hopefully things work out for her, one way or another.
Another thing that bugs me so much is girls at the bar.
It's February. I don't know how some girls can wear skirts/dresses without leggings or nylons! I was cold and wore pants. But that's not really what bothers me.
It started 2 weeks ago when this girl was dancing with a guy. It was very hard to tell if they were boyfriend-girlfriend together or just-friends together or if they even knew each other before dancing!
Anyways, so Matt's friend danced with the girl a bit then backed off because the guy started coming over. He did nothing. Later Matt's friend was really dancing with her [girl initiated it] They were really getting into it and close to the end of the night, the guy just shimmies his way between the girl and our friend. Basically staking claim.
If our friend hadn't backed off quickly, the guy would've started getting physical.
So we went back to the bar on the Friday that just passed that girl was there. I was dancing with Matt and she was basically on is butt. I'm not jealous but it was driving me nuts because he had said a few times for her to back off and we even moved away but she never got the hint.
I decided to be a little more passive-aggressive. When I had my arm around Matt's neck, I put my elbow out. Needless to say, she got an elbow in the head a few times. She got the hint and backed off.
I don't understand how girls can be like this. Get a hint! Granted, not all girls are like this. I know for a fact my friends aren't at the very least.
If any females are reading this, please make a conscious effort to stop being so damn catty.
The world needs nicer people, this isn't acceptable.
Anyways, see you in my next blog!!

Allergies in Winter?
Hey everyone!
I finally figured out why I've been getting such headaches lately!
I'm not 100% but it's either just sinus congestion or a sinus infection. For awhile I was blowing my nose every morning with half blood and half mucus. The blood was from the fact it's quite dry in my place, but with carefully placed containers of water that was adjusted. Now it's just sinus pain.
Yesterday I woke up with a major sore throat and kept spitting out mucus. Nasal drip! Now today I woke up and couldn't breath through one side of my nose.
Luckily we have some sinus medication but I also did this miracle thing called "Neti-Pot"
Basically you take warm water [they say to boil it to make sure it's safe] into the little pot, mix in the saline [ie; special salt basically] solution and pour it through one half of your nose. The water will go through your sinus' and come out the other side. Basically, do this over a sink or bucket.
Up side:
It helps allergies and sinus problems.
Down side:
You feel like you're drowning.
For me, it works better than sprays. Especially because I am very prone to nasal drip. For those who don't know, nasal drip is when mucus drips down the back of your throat and causes major irritation.
So when I poured the neti-pot through my nose, not only did my eyes water but I started to drool. [not a cute look for anyone]
Keep in mind, I don't have a cold or any cold symptoms and this is all started because of allergies. Luckily I go to the clinic next week, so I'm going to see about going back to the allergist and getting retested. I think I probably qualify for the allergy shots now - especially with last year's hay fever incident.
I'm so glad the apartment is starting to look really great. Minus random boxes that Matt has yet to go through, the living room is great. We still need curtains because our bedroom had sunshine straight into my eyes. Summer might be brutal if we don't get curtains because we get the morning sun.
I'm so picky so it'll be hard. We finally got new bedding. Grey and black. Also finally got a new trashcan! We had a silver one that was such a weird shape that when it was full, you take it out and half the trash bag was empty! Got a really good one at Wal*Mart yesterday for 15$
It's getting to be really nice out, so I open the window a lot. Definitely helps with the allergies but not great. I'm surprised how nice it's been. Especially for February! Makes life easier because since it's relatively nice out I can wear skirts with leggings.
Well that's about it
Neti-Pot lovin!

Pets, Home Decor and {Lack of} Work Outs!
Hey everyone!
So for those who don't know, my hamster - Kirby - passed away on Tuesday. He had been going down hill for almost a week, so even though it's hard I'm in a way glad. I had the horrible feeling that he was suffering in some way and even though I technically expected it soon .... still sucks.
Now I'm trying to sell the cage but that area where his cage sat is insanely empty.
Until yesterday.
I went to the dollar store with my mum - after having breakfast with her, my dad nd granny - and saw some great wall art!
I'm not sure if everyone knows what I mean when I say three-piece wall art, but I'll explain. [it's not difficult]
Basically there's a large art piece and it's broken into 3 different frames. You can put the photos together or have them separate.
The one I got isn't exactly as gender neutral as I originally wanted to do. With Matt and I living together I usually try to get stuff that are gender neutral but it's actually hard to do. The only one that was gender neutral was just "too busy" and would give us a headache.
These are just 2 outta the 3 and the only reason why I didn't get the third is because I couldn't find it.
So this week hasn't exactly been great on working out, because last weekend I did a more intense workout and ended up with a very sore lower back mixed with back of my thigh pain. The thigh pain I tried to use A5-35 on it but didn't work. Few days later I took a bath with regular salt [I know epsom salt works better but work with what you have, right?] and that definitely helped.
Next week I'll get back into workouts, maybe do something lax and work my way up.
Goal for next week [this week]
*Work out more - S-T-R-E-T-C-H!!! [ie; more yoga]
*More water - Idk why, but past couple days I haven't drank as much water as usual
*Healthier eating - when we do groceries next week, my goal is to get stuff ready for smoothies
Anyways, I'll keep you all posted about recipes if I find a great smoothies.
I'm trying to work greek yogurt into different ideas.

Dreaming Brings Up Memories
Hey everyone!
Have you guys ever had a dream that sparked a curiosity? Sometimes you knew that curiosity was there but sometimes you didn't realize it was that strong.
I had a dream that I saw someone that I haven't seen in years. I hadn't seen her because no one knew where she went. This was when I left a job in 2009 - just before the bus strike. She was my boss and a lot of rumours went around about what happened, the biggest one was that she had a nervous breakdown.
I had a dream last night that I just ran into her in the store. Now I'm wishing I had her last name to see if she's on facebook.
It's weird how that happens. You have a dream about something and then realize how much you didn't know about that person ....
Anyways, I've decided to do a series of pictures for the blog community of my apartment. I'm doing a video for facebook [mostly because I don't want people coming across this blog and seeing where I live - just not safe, sorry!] but not until nicer weather. It's such iffy weather lately because it's winter.
Ironically, today is beautiful and sunny. Comparing from past few days is beautiful since it was mad snow storms and just grey weather since last Thursday.
Healthy eating is getting better. I saw I was eating really heavy items - pastas, etc - in large portions, especially at night. I have a few things in the fridge that are healthy if you're big on snacking like Matt and I are.
Well that's about it.
If anyone has an idea how to find someone with so little info, that would be great!

iKea turns my boyfriend into a beaver?
Hey people!
Okay so we got a huge iKea bookcase set [the Billy one if anyone is curious which one]
iKea-ture is ridiculous and it took a total of 6hours for Matt to put it together! There's 4 parts to it. 2 large bookcases, one TV stand and one shelf that is to be mounted on the wall between the 2 bookcases.
Heather called Matt a beaver when I tweeted this.
FiNiSHED PRODUCT
Mary Poppins played twice while he worked.
I did a bit of groceries so I wouldn't be in the way.
Actually, that morning we got the iKea stuff, Matt's mum and step-dad came over.
YES!
I got Beaker!
I had posted Beaker singing "Ode to Joy" on my fb and Matt's mum had seen it. Well it's tradition for people to get ornaments for Xmas, so she said that when she went into the store and saw it, she had to get it for me.
Oh gosh, I cannot even explain how happy I was to see/have it!
In other news, I'm trying to get into shape by summer.
Last year I felt so self-conscious about wearing shorts, skirts, swimsuits, etc.
I wasn't able to workout because for a lot of last year I had side pains, so I had to take it easy.
Now I'm trying to eat better, work out a little and just be really toned for summer. I also figure if I start getting healthier, Matt will also.
So for the past few days I've been doing at least half hour of Just Dance 2 - it actually is a work out! I use to do an hour but I figure I'll work my way up there.
XSparkage mentioned about using MyFitnessPal.com [app and site] and saw that it's pretty decent. I found out recently that a couple of my friends are on there. Definitely helps when you have people to motivate you. I'm using the app/site because if I can see where I'm going wrong and how to do this, it'll be better.
If you guys want me to do more updates about my weight loss/healthy eating/etc let me know!
The cutest thing happened recently.
I went to check on Kirby [my hamster] has been sleeping under his water bottle.
Why? I'm not sure. He usually sleeps in his loft.
Anyways, this is long enough.
I shall leave you with a haul video!
